Types of Documents Frequently Notarized

  • Last Will & Testament - Legal document outlining how a person's assets & property should be distributed after their death. It also allows individuals to nominate guardians for minor children & specify an executor to manage the estate.

  • Trusts - Legal arrangement where the grantor/trustor transfers assets to the grantee/trustee to manage for the benefit of the beneficiary, potentially for tax advantages & to avoid probate. Examples: Living Trust, Revocable Trust, & Irrevocable Trust.

  • Power of Attorney - Legal document that gives one or more persons the power to act on your behalf. The power may be limited to a particular activity & may give temporary or permanent authority.

  • Living Will/Advance Healthcare Directive - Legal document outlining a person's preferences for medical treatment, especially if they become unable to make those decisions themselves. It allows a person to express their wishes regarding specific treatments, such as life support, & also designates someone as health care agent to make decisions on their behalf.

  • Codicils - Legal document that amends or revokes parts of a Will without replacing the entire Will...because life happens.
